Rachel Wilson in New Zealand
ArtistsRegister.com member Rachel Wilson, a painter and installation artist from Flagstaff, Arizona, is off to New Zealand until February 1, 2009. While there she will have the opportunity to experience an artist's residency during September and October at New Pacific Studio at Mt. Bruce. Her project during that time will be an installation piece hung among the fern trees. She plans to share the process and progress of the work on her website, www.somewhenstudio.com. In the meantime Wilson's new montoypes can be seen as part of "Landscape at Risk" at the Lonetree Campus of Coconino Community College August 13 through October 15. Her work can also be seen in the August issue of Mountain Living magazine in Seth Muller's article "Somewhere in Transition." Wilson's travel and residency in N.Z. have been supported by the Royal Society of New Zealand, Arizona Commission on the Arts, and New Pacific Studios.
